Amy Smith Bio

My name is Amy Smith, and this is my third year teaching second grade at FWCS. As a young girl, I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. Both of my parents were educators, so I spent many hours “playing school” with my younger sister trying to be just like them. Also, I have always had a special place in my heart for children as well as a desire to help them achieve their very best while having fun.

When it came time for college, it was an easy decision for me to choose a degree in elementary education. I graduated from Baylor University in 1997 and married my best friend, Chris, one month later. My first teaching position was a pre-k classroom at Bosqueville ISD. I spent three years teaching pre-k and then stayed home for eight years to raise my children. My daughter, Ashlyn, is eleven years old and my son, Hayden, is eight. Once my children were in school full time, I was fortunate enough to work here at FWCS teaching pre-k for one year. The next year I began teaching second grade, and I have really enjoyed working with this age group! We have a blast in the second grade!

When I am not at school, I stay very busy keeping up with my family. I am extremely thankful for the beautiful and supportive family God has blessed me with, and they are definitely my favorite way to pass time. I enjoy trying to keep up with my husband and children on the golf course, throwing baseballs to my son, and watching my daughter dance. For fun, I love watching most sports, especially Texas Ranger and St. Louis Cardinal baseball. When it’s football season, you’ll find me cheering on the Baylor Bears. On Wednesday nights, I’ll be helping with Children’s Choir and Bible Drill at my church. My favorite way to relax is by reading a good book.
